Energica hoofdleverancier Moto-e

The FIM Moto-e World Cup is becoming a reality in 2019, ushering in the beginning of a new era for two-wheeled motorsport: sustainable and environmentally aware competition on electric motorcycles.

Dorna announces that the supplier for this new and exciting prospect will be Italian innovator Energica. Energica, the only manufacturer chosen by Dorna for the FIM Moto-e World Cup , comes from the heart of racing.

The soul of Energica Motor Company S.p.A. comes from history and traditions of their natural born area: innovation combines with the genuine engines tradition of Italian Motor Valley. Energica Motor Company S.p.A. is the first manufacturer of high-performing electric motorcycles.

The Energica concept came from the eCRP 1.4, the runner-up World Champion and European Champion electric racing motorcycle. The team made two years of racing then they started working on the road version, Energica. On the design of the bike has played a key role the CRP Group’s know-how because thanks to the CRP technologies developed for the aerospace and F1, the team were able to shorten the time to market and the timing of the research, keeping the products at the state-of- the-art.

Today Energica Motorcycles are on sales in Europe and United States: among the 3 models of the manufacturer, with powers from 80 to 107 KW, there is the sportbike Energica Ego. This model will be used by teams that will race the FIM Moto-e World Cup in a tuned version.

All Energica models are equipped with DC fast charging capability, allowing the motorcycles to recharge in less than 30 Minutes. Energica is the only electric motorcycle manufacturer to include the DC Fast Charging technology based on CCS Combo.

“We are proud to have been chosen by Dorna and we are already committed to this project.” Said Livia Cevolini, CEO Energica Motor Company S.p.A. “The passion for engines is what brought us here, to build new dream vehicles right at the beating heart of speed, Modena, the Italian Motor Valley. We took the electric field to another level: each Energica undergoes quality control and performance tests, and our R&D department is always focused on new technologies and their concrete application. Our history comes from racing, our passion for this sector has never faded. FIM Moto-e World Cup is an excellent project. After all, it is what we hoped since our racing years, now it can be managed professionally thanks to Dorna and its unique and long-lasting experience.”

Vito Ippolito, FIM President, comments: “The FIM is very happy to support the development of new technologies, of which the new FIM Moto-e World Cup is an example. Energica is proving itself to be a reliable and expert leader in this sector and with the highly qualified support of Dorna we are sure that we are taking the road to success.”

Carmelo Ezpeleta, CEO of Dorna Sports, adds: “The FIM Moto-e World Cup is a new and exciting project for Dorna, and it makes us very proud to announce Energica will be the supplier in this new venture. We believe in excellence, quality and performance and we cannot think of a better collaborator with whom to launch the FIM Moto-e World Cup. Energica are an industry- leading and innovative company and we look forward to the incredible spectacle of electric powered racing together.”
